Mozambique Cross-Border Sticker Kit for Caravans & Trailers

Tofo, Vilanculos or a Bazaruto run? Mozambique is heavily policed and the famous blue and yellow triangle is the decal travellers are fined for missing. The Kampi Mozambique cross-border sticker kit carries that triangle, the reflective tape and the ZA oval, with a guide on exactly where each piece goes on the tow vehicle and the caravan.

What is in the kit

• Blue and yellow triangle decals (vehicle and trailer).

Where each sticker goes

On the towing vehicle

• Blue and yellow triangle: on the front bumper, right-hand (driver’s) side.

On the caravan or trailer

• Blue and yellow triangle: on the rear, right-hand side.
• ZA oval: rear, right-hand side, at least 150 mm clear of the number plate.
• Amber reflective tape along the sides, white reflectors facing forward, red facing rearward.

How to fit your stickers

1. Clean and dry the panel with soapy water, then wipe with a little methylated spirits so the adhesive grips.
2. Fit in mild shade, not full Kalahari sun: the vinyl sits flatter and the glue cures better between 15°C and 25°C.
3. Peel slowly, lay one edge down first, then smooth from the centre outwards with a cloth or squeegee to push out air bubbles.
4. Press the reflective tape and ovals down hard for 30 seconds and leave them 24 hours before a wash or a long highway run.

Do not forget to carry

• Reflective safety vests: Mozambique requires them, and the safe rule is one vest per person in the vehicle. Add a set below.
• Reflective warning triangles: two, and four when towing, with sides of at least 425 mm. Add a pair below.
• Third-party insurance is compulsory and bought at the border, along with the temporary import permit and vehicle declaration. A fire extinguisher, spare wheel, jack and spare keys are expected.
